The VR6 is actually a straight 6 wearing a V6's pants and is better than a 2JZ. Snap em up from your local junkyards while you still can.

Yeah but then you'd have to have a VW

But why settle for one when you could have two:
(aside from the fact there probably aren’t a lot of W12s at you local pick-and-pull)

Nope. The N54 is the new 2JZ. 800hp on stock internals? Yes, please.

There actually are, in that there are at least two VR6 Passats and I have a buddy with a welder.

Yeah, but 12v VR6s came stock with forged internals and can safely be pushed up to like 600 with a spacer and a bigass turbo. And (hotter take) they sound better.

first part is correct.
second
part... no.

I have no experience with the VR6 but appreciate its design

Bu t the 12V head doesn’t flow well and the 32V isn’t much better.

Because just setting your wallet on fire and asking the bank to delete everything in your account is faster and less painful.

... and is better than a 2JZ.
Back away from the crackpipe, sir.

You lost me at “better than a 2JZ”.

It has all the disadvantages of a V6 and very few of the advantages of a I6.
I say, go balls deep, and just get an I6.
![]() 02/17/2019 at 13:03 |

Sure, except it has the smoothness and power of an I6, but fits in the same space as an I4.
![]() 02/17/2019 at 13:04 |

Is it really a straight 6 in V6 pants if it’s not internally balanced?
![]() 02/17/2019 at 13:18 |

and you can get it in a waaaaaaaaaagon
![]() 02/17/2019 at 13:19 |

Nah.

But they like to eat timing chain guides, and the timing chain is on the transmission side.

I'm just saying there's a reason why all of VWAG's new gas v6 engines aren't VR6s....

24V. Ha. Yikes

I mean, yeah. There’s a reason every VW guy I know has at least 1 spare VR6 sitting in their garage.
